Shiny Things

coffee-creations-ps.jpgGood Coffee, good weather, good bike = Good Friday. With Friday being a holiday for full time BK employees I took advantage of not being over top the grease pit for 8 hours and took the new SuperFly out to the trails. With the clean crisp air of a mid 20 degree morning I never once missed the smells of the trans fatty grease that I dip sliced potatoes in all day.

shiny-parts-ps-copy.jpgInstead I was taken in by the bright sun that beamed down from above. Having the Sun shine for most of a day isn’t a common thing here in western PA. Throughout my 3 hour ride I noticed all the shiny parts on my new bike as they caught the sunlight and cast a glare directly in my face. Its been awhile since I’ve ridden a completely new bike and since the ground was still frozen for most of the ride my bike stayed fairly clean.

I pushed the pace for the first 15 miles and then settled into diesel mode and simply bavington-3-21-2008-11-ps.jpgchugged along for the remainder of the day, listening to a variety of music. The purpose of today’s ride was to try the new G2 geometry out on the twisty trails in Hillman State Park and tune anything else on the new build. (checking for loose bolts stretched cables & fork pressures). Things went well with the exception of a leaking valve stem on the rear wheel. A quick break to swap out the valve by placing a tube in the wheel and I was back on track.
