New route in Pisgah

I made a new discovery on an old trail this week.  For any readers who live close to Pisgah, try climbing Big Creek trail and then descending Laural Mountain.  Big Creek has never been a great downhill.  The top section drops 1800 all at once.  The gradient, although not super steep, is quite consistent, with no level areas to let off the brakes.  The lower 2 miles are creek side with numerous water crossings.  I don’t know what took me so long to try climbing this thing.  I’m almost sure that nobody climbs this trail.  It’s nearly all rideable, with nothing absurdly difficult.  It’s an extremely doable challenge complete with tour style switchbacks and subtle ecosystem variations as you climb.  I feel alright about sharing this secret.  Try it if you can.
