E-ville riding and camping
This past weekend Mark and I headed down (actually up) to Ellicottville, NY for some riding and camping. E-ville has some brilliant single track with lots of rocks, roots, technical challenges, and a few mountains to climb, which my HiFi ate up. We pulled into our camp site on Saturday night, promptly set up our new tent in a world record time, at least for Mark and I, then headed out for a night ride with Trumble and Chris. Nothing like hitting unfamiliar terrain at night. We eventually retreated to the camp site and the roar of a generator of some nearby campers watching TV in the woods. Generators should not be in the woods. We debated moving camp but decided that food and fire were more important and hoped the noise would end. It didn’t. Generators should not be in the woods.
The next day we hit all the trails and found a fresh new piece of fast switchback single track, it reminded Mark and I of riding the Suntop Trail near Mount Rainier. It was a brilliant new trail that ended nowhere, meaning climbing back up a downhill, but it was absolutely worth it. We put in a good 34 miles of pure fun single track.
On Monday, Chris and Trumble headed for home as Mark and I geared up for another day of riding. We rode or favorite trails again, hitting the new downhill and riding back roads over to Golden Hill to ride the single track there. We found the Whammy Trail, which was a short loop that actually challenged Mark’s technical skills. We found our way back to E-ville and hit a few more trails before returning to camp with another 42 miles under our wheels. At this point, we missed Cadence and headed for home and then promptly to the shower.
Tuesday was our spoil Cadence day and treated her with a ride at the MPH until she finally forgave us for leaving her. Mark and I then rode some rails to trails and some easy double track to give us another 32 miles. The whole vacation I was absolutely amazed at how well my HiFi handled all of the roots and rocks and all of the different terrain we encountered. It is a very versatile and comfortable bike. I love it.

Nice photos - I am officially jealous. That’s more riding in four days than I did in all of May!
Good work with the blog. (The RSS feed is a nice feature, BTW.) I think you have raised the bar a little too high for Mark - tell him to get writing.
