Hard Core 24 Givin’er

The last month or so has been one whirlwind of riding and preparing for the Hard Core. We have been going to some pretty amazing places and logging on some serious mountain miles. I think if I just rode less I could blog more.

The Hard Core was last weekend and it went brilliantly for Suzanne and I. We won the male/female category and the over all for two person teams! We were pretty stoked. We each did 12 laps, 96 miles with each lap containing 1400 feet of climbing. The Hard Core lived up to it’s name this year with rain for the first part of the race, fog in the middle, and humidity at the end, I loved it!

This race held a two firsts for me. After a bout with an upset stomach I harfed while riding one of my morning laps. I have never puked while riding my bike before, No matter how much I drank! The second is this was the first MTB race that I crashed more than one time. The race course was slick there was a number of bridges and roots and rocks that were show stoppers. It’s nice to be humbled.

Riding some real all mountain trails in Ellicottville.

I just got back from riding at The Land Free Ride Park in Potter. My friends Chris and Trumble Have built some amazing stuff. 26 foot gaps, 18 foot hip jumps. 10 foot drops. Chris and I rode it all and it was amazing!
