Thanks to NWGA SORBA for putting on an awesome event. Definitely one of the best I have ever been to; well done! Tim Carson: “You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is “Never get involved in a land war in Asia,” but only slightly less well known is this: “Never go in against Marshall Hance in a sprint to the line!” I know that sounds self indulgent, but seriously the “Princess Bride” quote was running through my head those final tarmac minutes leading up to the last money spot.
I’ve learned not to expect to perform miracles on raceday if I haven’t done better and gone harder during the weeks leading up. Props to 29er Crew Sam Koerber for smashing the course record and raising the bar for the rest of us. I’m looking forward to lots of racing this year and the snake was welcomed validation for the hard work thus far. Still a long way off to SSWC, though.
