Preparation

Racing has been on the DL the past few weekends. Unfortunately I missed out on the Mohican 100 (Congrats Sam!) even though I registered. It wasn’t all bad though, I got to do quite a bit of riding these past few weeks or so.

Memorial Day weekend was a bone crushing weekend for myself. I managed to put in a 135k epic solo ride on some of my favorite local trails. 8 hours in the saddle, 3300 meters+ of climbing and a great day in the sun.

Last Tuesday I wrapped up the Farmall weeknight series, setting a personal best on the course. I ended up finishing 3rd overall. Seems everyone is getting much much faster as my course record has held up for quite a few seasons and was demolished this past Tuesday. I managed to take a 2nd place in the series, and was happy to come away with that after some hard fought racing.

This past weekend was filled with loads more riding and fun.

I’ve been working on getting a big push in training for the upcoming Hardcore 24 race. This will be my 3rd attempt running solo at the race and I’m looking forward to the pain, misery, suffering, oh and the fun of it too!

I spent this past saturday down in Naples again, revisiting parts of the same route as last weekend. 5 hours of saddle time climbing up and over the hills and having a blast descending some awesome trails. The Superfly is running smooth as can be and has handled everything I seem to throw at er’. I was a little tired though after a few climbs and ended up taking in some sun and rest at the top of one of the climbs, enjoying the views of the Naples Valley. Unfortunately, I misplaced my camera and don’t have any pics :(
Sunday was an incredible day. Fellow 29er crew members Mark and Suzanne Hartman and I blasted around the beautiful Letchworth State Park. Another 5 hours of saddle time with some gorgeous view of the “Grand Canyon of the East”. My legs actually felt really great considering the prior days riding and I had a blast. Hopefully Mark will post some of his video’s/pics that he took while riding. The trails there are absolutely awesome and were just rippingly fast all day, even after the weather.

Again, I apologize for no pics, but I did just find my camera yesterday so they will be coming in the next posts!

A few more days of some hard riding and training and then it will be time to rest up. This weekend is the 2nd race of the NYSERS at Plattekill mt. and then next weekend is the Hardcore!
