Nipples Are Strange

Just ask Ken. Sunday was my first race of the year and it happened to coincide with the Trek Factory Demo Tour at Yankee Springs. I stopped by the demo truck to talk to Mike, the local rep, and Ken, the demo guy.

I compared bike specs on the Rig to the uber cool white 69er Ken has built up and goofed around to try and keep the nerves at bay. Mike was admiring the 29er crew jersey and was very happy that they were a quality material that would hide my nipples, I hadn’t thought of this bonus by I guess they do a good job of it. Ken looked up from the bike he was working on just long enough to say “Nipples are strange” after a second he explained his statement by saying “well think about it”. Mike and I still are not sure what he meant but I am sure it made to him. So the title of this post is for you Ken. Oh and then I raced. The race went well, it was my first race of the season, a TT, and a handful of elites planned to join the regular singlespeeders in the expert/elite ss class, so I had no idea how I would do. I pushed myself as hard as I could ending up somehow pulling a 2nd place only 50 seconds behind Nate Versluis, who was doing his second race of the day after finishing 4th in the elite class on his SS, dang. I couldn’t have been happier with how I rode, and feel like I owe some credit to the bike as it did everything I could have asked and more. A bit more of a race report can be seen here. On a side sometimes I wish I didn’t work in a bike shop it makes it far to easy to trick out my bike when you are around this stuff all day. New crank went on tonight and it looks sweet.
