demo days.

There comes a time in everyone’s life that involves bikes but our feelings are pretty much all the same when you first learn how to ride–that feeling of freedom to go where you want. When the training wheels come off, the freedom begins. Later in life when riding cars or passerby’s might scream at you not wanting to share the road, other bike riders might wave, and if you are on dirt solo you may just think. Regardless of age you are in a cycling cult like it or not when you find yourself on a bike, you have been bitten. It doesn’t matter what you ride or where you ride, it is just the fact that you go ride. If you race and get others involved in one world two wheels campaign, all the better. This weekend there was a demo days here in southeastern Michigan with many manufactures and bike shops bringing their gear from bikes to accessories. Kids from 6 and adults to 60 took out over 200 bikes from the Trek booth alone with what seemed like over a thousand people were there. There was even a hotly sought after carbon Superfly 29er to demo. The 200 bike demo is probably because the guy driving the bikes around the country Ken Derrico and the territory manager Mike Shrift ooze passion for people and bikes. Professional, yet personal and knowing all that has to do with bikes; even when it comes to the competition, they know bikes. Don’t think for a second that a Trek is a Fisher. Many bike companies own other brands, I don’t know about the other guys but Gary Fisher guides his own ship. I have even seen him at local shops a couple of times in Michigan in the last year alone. What better a way to find your young self by buying a bike then to find your favorite bike all over again, it is like being born twice. Add to it just maybe run into the guy that is behind the bike you just bought with the name Gary Fisher? Look up a demo days in your area by stopping at your local dealer. Be five again if only when on your bike. If you ride a Fisher, welcome to our cult of enthusiasts and ambassadors. Peace. Dan k - Michigan.
