Great event brought back into the series this year, course was flat and fast with technical sections put in to slow you down throughout as well. Maybe I should have warmed up a bit more for the elite start as my tush got left behind quickly at this morning’s start. 
Springtime in Naples, NY area happens to be my favorite time of the year. The trails are just getting into perfect conditions, weather is coming around and the legs are primed and ready to go for any situation.
Wednesday was a great day to skip out of work early and head down to the Hollow with Casey, Jer-Bear and Hanggi to get some Finger Lakes Trail riding in. We rolled out from the Hollow onto some of the roads from the Rambler.
Yesterday headed over to the Geneva Bicycle Center and headed out with a few new riders to hit the old Wheelman route. It’s about a 38 mile ride with a few rolling hills, nothing major though. I added a few miles by riding there and back.

Back home, travel weary, little tired and sore. Still processing the events of the weekend. Happy to have gotten that first race effort in, and also to have gone on a nice pre-ride Saturday am, with Gary Fisher himself.

Sea Otter, well technically it’s day 2 as I was at the venue yesterday, but just to see where our tent is. Weather is beautiful, and I’ve got a nice sunburn on the arms to prove it.

It’s been a pretty decent week here in Upstate NY. As usual for the weather it was short sleeves and shorts mid-week and windproof tights and jackets on the weekend. At least the sun was shining the whole time.

It’s racing time. Bikes are pretty much always at the forefront of my life and probably most anybody reading this blog; but within the annual ebb and flow of excitement and intensity, these are great times. A new year ahead, more experience behind, and the thrill of possibility. Plus, an Olympic year. Tomorrow I’ll being taking Willow out for her first really hard ride, she thinks she’s gone hard already; maybe so, but not hard enough. It’s getting time to lay it down. That’s exciting.
Man, I don’t think we coulda had a better weekend. The past 2 days have been filled with sunshine and riding. Saturday, I put in a long ride in the hills and today, I got to tear into the trails with the Superfly for the first time.

I think the quote from the movie Cars, “I am speed!” is befitting now that I’ve got my Superfly in hand!! At least that’s what comes to mind when I look at it.
