Racing Begins

Well down here in the south our racing season began this past weekend.  The weather was beautiful, with highs hovering around 85 degrees.  The race was in Gainesville, FL and the opening round of the South Eastern Regional Championships(SERC).  When I rolled up to the line the butterflies were definitely swarming, but after 5 laps I crossed the line 4th in my first Expert 19-29 race.  I was overjoyed with my result, but the little voice in my head knew I could do better and quickly reminded me that 4th place won’t cut it for very long.  All in all it was a good weekend, I am happy to be racing again, and hopefully this past weekend was a good sign of things to come.

Just remember 4th isn’t bad at all. It takes some people years to get a 1st place and sometimes they never do get it. The expert field can be very tough so a top 10 or top 5 is doing well.

I’m super jealous you got to race at Hailes. I lived in Gainesville for several years and those were some of the coolest trails in the area. Way to go on 4th.
