On Wednesday I was asked to see if I could get a few of the local Mtb riders for a Dirt Crit, on Thursday. The Idea was to have a training session that would spike the Heart Rate, drop it and repeat it over and over again for 30 min’s. Well this is what I got, Pro ladies Joy Duerksen and Krista Park. Pro males, Matt Freeman and Robert Bender. There were 16 of us in total once everybody showed up and the abilities were all across the board. The newest to the sport in attendance was 15 year old Ryan Oddle who’s dad brought him from 20 miles away just to take part in this way fun event, awesome!!
The course was just about a quarter mile in length and had it all. Fast descents, tight single track and a good steady heart pounding climb. We even had a guy giving us splits. We started in the sand to make things even a little more interesting and to keep anybody from getting the jump, our race, our rules. I was even able to get $10.00 gift cards to Redlands Cyclery, our local bike shop, paid for by the PossAbilities program.
It was amazing to me that in such a short amount of time something like this could be put together with so much support. I’m in the works to make this a weekly thing gaining more riders every time. Next weeks course is already taking shape and I have even set up a course in my neighborhood for week #3.
So try it out gang, If you haven’t already, get your local crew together and pound it out on a Thursday nite for 30 min’s of dirty circles.

Sounds like a blast man; great work. Dirt crits are really taking off, as they should they’re a blast. Keep the wagon wheels rollin!
