Greetings to all and thanks to the folks at Fisher for allowing me the chance to ride a great bike. To give some more input to the site, here is a review of my first race (?) on a SuperFly.
I dont run anymore, as a result of a torn ACL, but when I read about the Xterra World Champiionships in my backyard, I figured I could struggle thru the run and make up for my shortcomings on the bike and skiis. It is amusing how delusional 2 beers can make you. I bought some studded tires and had the course dialed in the day before the race. Hard pack with some ice thru-out. The morning of the race it snowed 4″ and I pushed my way to the front line. I looked to both sides and noticed that I was the only one with studded tires. I was either the smartest or the stupidest rider on the line. After 200 yards I knew the answer to that. The studs dug into the snow and made peddeling on the flats impossible in places. So the field rode away from me and I settled into a day of pain. Bike-hard, snowshoe-hard, run-miserable, and now my good part the ski. Have you ever tried to race a GS course when your legs are absolutly baked ? I had made the comment the day before about the ski course being to tame— Lets ski some moguls, Lets do some tree skiing. Well it would have been carnage to try that after all of the early events. Most racers struggled down the mountain, and back up, and back down in a state of pathetic, modified snow plow. I finished the thing and won my age division, finished the award ceremony with my head on the table, cramped up and silly with beer. And I uttered the famous last words that are spoken at the end of most butt-kickin events— ” Never Again ” ( At least until next year)
Thanks for reading and bring on the dirt !

Waking up this morning to a ray of sunshine across my face was the prefect wake up call to the first day of spring. I stepped out side and it was amazing, clear blue skies, a warm breeze, and most importantly nothing falling out of the sky! Chicago seems to have missed the terrible weather that is bombarding the south. It is a perfect day to hit the trails sadly i am still waiting for my paragon to arive in the shop, so i will have hit the roads today and enjoy this picture perfect day.

Early wake up as always. A warm welcome to the first day of spring but wait a look outside shows a lite snow fall here in western Pa. A late night e-mail announcing the cancellation of the first OMBC race. I guess it will be a few more weeks before the bikes see a race.

Well, the only trails I’ve seen lately are the ones in north Florida and south Georgia that we hit up over Spring Break a couple weeks ago (even after a tornado ripped through the area, we were able to ride-that’s one reason I love and miss living in Florida)…the trails in KC are super-saturated still, but we are supposed to have several days of sun that will hopefully dry up some of the wet, slippery mud. The weather was perfect for a road ride today; nearly 60 degrees and lots of sun…I think I can almost see the light at the end of the midwest winter tunnel.

I’m Spinning in the rain, just spinning in the rain…Well, the weather here in Upstate NY is at it’s usual finest. Luckily, or perhaps unluckily, the snow is gone. But, ma nature isn’t being extremely kind.

Thankfully over here in New Jersey we’ve dodged almost all the horrible winter weather, other than the cold of course. The trails have been frozen and fast with very few weekends off. We’ve gotten a great training group of fellow 29′er racers together and have been putting in some serious base miles!! More »

There is still a lot of snow on the ground up here and it doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon. With trail riding still weeks off; the ski hill, QSBS, and Frasier reruns have been keeping Phil and me busy. Our winter training program has been limited to snow covered sidewalks and parking lots. We don’t have an actual structured training program but does usually leave some pedestrians wishing the trails were open too. Hopefully some warmer weather is on its way.
