A quick hello to everyone else who seems to have jumped into this blog full force, I don’t think there will be any shortage of interesting material to read. Snuck in several long mountain bike rides over the last two weeks, one with ample amounts of snow, about four inches at the top of the mountain and the other with a plethora of rocks. As we drove out to the mountains early Sunday morning we saw a snow line at about 4000′ Few things are better than stealing fresh tracks in the snow on the bikes early Sunday morning. We even overcame a group of hikers just in time to get the final freshies to the top and for the super techy and rocky downhill. Elliot’s Knob (where the picture was taken) is one of the higher points in Virginia but fails to top out at over 5000′ nevertheless it is a titillating two hour climb to the top. If anyone is interested in the photo the complete set of pics from our ride is here at SMT’s photos on google
In other news, spread the word for those of you who have not yet checked it out about the Cliff Bar Two Mile Challenge because 40% of U.S. urban travel is two miles or less Take the 2 Mile Challenge
Go Play on your bike in some rocks, it soothes the soul

I barely survived yesterdays ride. Note to self: Don’t trust the temp in the car.
I headed out yesterday on the paragon. It’s running double duties as my road bike and as the mtb until the Superfly arrives

Good Coffee, good weather, good bike = Good Friday. With Friday being a holiday for full time BK employees I took advantage of not being over top the grease pit for 8 hours and took the new SuperFly out to the trails. With the clean crisp air of a mid 20 degree morning I never once missed the smells of the trans fatty grease that I dip sliced potatoes in all day.

Well, it’s official. I received an email from Travis Ott telling me that I was on the Gary Fisher 29er Crew Mountain Bike Team. Pretty cool.
The good news is that I get a new bike. I’ve placed an order for a SuperFly. The bad news is that I have to sell two bikes. I guess I could have bigger problems. If you know anyone that needs a geared Trek 69er, let me know! After I receive my SuperFly and get some rides on it, I’ll let everyone know the difference between the two bikes.
Being accepted on the Fisher 29er team has me pretty motivated. I’ve been riding well early in the season and feel stronger this year than I did at the same time last year.
I Cat’d up to to a 3 on the road last year. My road racing goal was always to get to Cat 3. I made it so this year I’m going to focus more on mountain bike racing. I’ll still do some road races, but will be participating in some larger mountain bike races.
I’ll be keeping the blog updated as much as possible. I hope you all enjoy the ride – I know I will!

Ok I’ve seen a few photos and also saw a couple of questions on how to make the text wrap around a photo you place in a post. Well here goes…. Do all your writing/typing first
then upload the photo. Once uploaded go back into the editor and place the cursor where you want the photo, scroll down and send the photo to the editor. Once its in the post click on it so it has blocks around it. Then go above and click the align right or align left button. This will put the photo in place and allow the text to wrap. Oh yea this is a disc brake on a fixy. pretty cool isn’t it. Fabbed and welded by my friend GDub from the Trek of Pittsburgh Store.
Please keep in mind that by going to wordpress.com you can look through their support for answers to most simple questions if that doesn’t help contact one of the editors.

I had hoped that yesterday’s estimates were nothing more than idle threats, but several inches of accumulation this morning quickly quashed my hope for a six hour ride. It seems I had prematurely swapped out the jones cx tyres for some quicker hardcases. More »

Another custom graphics job.. this one.. not done by Mike. I’ve had this ride for a month or so and only two rides on it due to the weather. G2 is fabulous!

The superfly is all built up and ready to roll… I can’t wait for Saturday to come around so I can get out and get her muddy. I’ve got to run back to Morristown on Sunday, so that will give me a chance to hit up Panther Creek and take some pictures to update the Disc Burner site, which has been sort of neglected. More »

Sometimes when you walk around the Trek/Gary Fisher home office you find some neat stuff. Today I was going for a stroll past my friend Mikey’s desk. Mikey is the graphic designer for Fisher. If you dig the 29er Crew jersey or the ‘08 Subaru-Gary Fisher kit, thank Mikey. Another little known fact about Mikey is he’s very dangerous. I mean he must be, cuz we keep him chained to his desk and computer. (Figuratively.)
Anyway, I found this Fisher Superfly frame by Mikey’s desk. Looks like he was fitting it for graphics.
